Dr. Bello Matawalle, the PDP Governorship candidate in Zamfara, has said that he would focus on three key issues – security, education and health – if elected in 2019.
Matawalle, while addressing supporters on Monday in Gusau, said that the state would only move forward if the three sectors were given the attention they deserved.
He also promised to look into some basic social welfare needs of poor people, saying that efforts would be made to avail them of some support to improve their living standards.
The candidate said that he was particularly worried about the security situation in Zamfara, and promised to run an open administration that would accommodate inputs from all segments of the population toward tacking the menace.
“I have met with all segments of the population and everyone is worried about the massive insecurity threatening Zamfara.
“I have also spoken with many other groups and they all appear willing to suggest ways to make Zamfara peaceful. So, I will work with everyone to ensure a society we shall all be proud to call our own,” he said.
Matawalle promised to offer free education at all levels, saying that special attention would be paid to the rural areas to minimise rural-urban migration. (NAN)
