The wedding ceremony between President Buhari’s daughter, Zahra, and the son of billionaire businessman, Mohammed Indimi, scheduled for December 4, 2016, has been put on hold following the recent online display of her expensive wedding gift from her soon-to-be husband.
The postponement, it was learned, was on the President’s insistence, who according to a Daily Correspondent report, was uncomfortable with his soon-to-be son-in-law’s source of wealth.
The news of Zahra’s customized wedding boxes, which cost a whooping N44million, received a lot of media buzz and this has also contributed to the President’s discomfort, stating that he wanted a low key wedding especially with the present economic challenges.
The wedding ceremony was scheduled for November 30th, and December 4th, 2016, after an introduction ceremony between both families had earlier been held in Aso Villa Abuja on Friday, November 18th.
It was also gathered that the President had ordered a security check to be conducted because of his discomfort with the groom’s father, Alhaji Mohammed Indimi’s perceived closeness with ex-President Ibrahim Babangida.
Daily Correspondent also revealed that the former President, Ibrahim Babangida, is believed to be a godfather of billionaire Mohammed Indimi, more so the former President was against the emergence of Buhari as president in the 2015 elections.
A source further said that President Buhari, who had such information at his disposal before consenting to the marriage, may have been prevailed upon by his closest political allies to have a rethink on giving out his daughter to the Indimi’s.
It is however “very unlikely that President Buhari may give his go ahead for the wedding in the near future,” the source concluded.
