You’ve constitutional duty to protect everyone, not just those who voted for you – Shehu Sani chides Buhari

Sani

The senator representing Kaduna Central, Sen. Shehu Sani, has reminded President Muhammadu Buhari that the protection of every Nigerian is a constitutional responsibility that must be carried out.

Sani made this known via his Twitter handle on Wednesday following an encounter between residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the president.

A delegation of FCT residents visited the president to pay Sallah homage on Tuesday.

Buhari however berated them for voting the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He added that he would secure the FCT for himself and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, appearing to suggest that the FCT residents did not deserve protection from him for not voting his All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

However, Sani said that the constitution guaranteed the protection of every Nigerian, irrespective of party and other affiliations.

Sani said, “It’s not a favour but a constitutional responsibility of the FG and the President to serve and protect those who voted for the ruling party and those who voted against.

“Leadership is a crown made of the discomfort of thorns and the fragrance of flowers.”
