Youth Corper Shot Dead by Police One Day to POP

2 Min Read

A youth Corper serving in the federal capital territory Abuja was shot dead in the early hours of tuesday , July 6, 2918 by men of the Nigeria Police force while she was returning from work.

The news broke on twitter yesterday as the elder sister of the victim cried out for help.

@chinny3bs wrote, “Pleae guys help me retweet my last retweet. My little sister was shot dead by the police this morning in Abuja. I want justice for my sister!!! she was a corper and meant to pass out tomorrow…

A friend of the victim @uzorahaja, said the police opened fire on the car the victim was riding in and the bullet hit her by the side – between her ribs.  She was rushed to Garki hospital where the staff on duty refused to attend to her pending a police report, fortunately the police arrived on the scene but they further demanded for 50 thousand Naira which was not readily available and the victim bled out and died.

A social justice crooner @segalink confirmed the incident in a tweet. According to him….

we lost miss Linda Nkechi Igwetu, a youth corper serving in Abuja to yet another avoidable impunity of police this morning. A police Officer shot at their car while returning from work and she bled to death. Our lawyers are with the next of kin and the shooter at the station.
