Decorum went to the winds during a reconciliation meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan, his allies and the G7 opposition governors.
Governors Amaechi and Akpabio reportedly got into a shouting match accusing each other of corruption and declaring who had the most to fear from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
According to sources with knowledge of the meeting, Amaechi began the tirade by accusing Akpabio.
He had said, “You’re a terribly corrupt man.”
To which Akpabio responded, “What did I steal, how am I corrupt? You’re the one that is corrupt.”
The argument took a turn for the worse when Akpabio alleged that his daughter who attends former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s American University was being “bullied”.
In response to the allegation, Amaechi said “They are bullying your daughter because the money you went there to donate was not yours, it was stolen money.”
After being threatened with the EFCC by Akpabio, Amaechi further responded that he was not afraid of the EFCC and if he happened to see EFCC officials in Rivers, he would direct them to Uyo where the treasury is being looted on a daily basis.
