The Chairman, APC National Campaign Council for the Edo gubernatorial election, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has described the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki as a liability to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ganduje, who is also the Governor of Kano State, said that PDP’s choice of Obaseki would work greatly against the party in the September 19 polls.
He stated this Friday while addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ganduje and the APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mai Mala Buni had led the party’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, into a meeting with the president.
“I can assure you that Governor Obaseki is a liability to the PDP. I can assure you that we are contesting against a governor who failed most woefully,” he said.
Meanwhile, Buni said that President Buhari endorsed the candidature of Ize-Iyamu.
He said the president gave his blessings to the candidate during the meeting.
Also speaking, Ize-Iyamu denied that 17 members of the Edo State House of Assembly sat in house on Thursday to impeach the Speaker, Frank Okiye and elect a new one.
He also debunked rumour making the rounds that the president did not want to see him, blaming it on the antics of the PDP.
