The Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has replied the Ekiti chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which accused him of attempting to defraud and brainwash the people of Ekiti over the Paris Club refund.
Recall that the Ekiti chapter of the party had accused the state governor of holding several meetings with workers and stakeholders in the state in an attempt to rob them of the N4.7billion which was apportioned to the state.
The state arm of the party further noted that the state governor’s “ultimate goal” is “to, as usual, divert the money for selfish motives”.
The statement released by the Publicity Secretary of the state’s party, Taiwo Olatunbosun, further added: “Governor Fayose believes that he is wiser than all Ekiti people put together, which he recklessly celebrates in his contemptuous cliché as ‘Ekiti people are stupid’.
“The governor started his latest trick when he called Labour leaders to a meeting last month that Paris Club refund coming to the state would be N4.7billion just to create the impression that he is running a transparent administration.
“We are aware that after collecting the money, he has started calling another round of meetings brainwashing workers that N4.7b Paris Club refund will not be enough to pay one month salary barely a month after he confessed that the actual Ekiti monthly wage bill is N1.7 billion and several months after he consistently lied that the state’s wage bill was N2.6 billion.”
In reaction to the statement, the state governor through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, has slammed the allegations stating that the second tranche of the Paris Club refund received by the state is not enough to clear salary arrears.
The state governor’s CPS further noted that the statement released by the APC on the Paris Club refund further proves that the party is constituted by a bunch of touts, mischief makers and educated illiterates.
He further warned the Ekiti people to not be misguided adding that such “brazen lies to wickedly short-change the people” of Ekiti will no longer be tolerated in the state.
