Your foreign “industrial” trips are worthless – Ihedioha tells Okorocha

2 Min Read

Former governorship candidate on the platform of the PDP in Imo state, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has dared Governor Rochas Okorocha to prove that his many “industrial” trips since assuming office in 2011 have benefitted the state.

Ihedioha, the former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, gave this challenge in a statement made through his spokesperson, Mr. Chibuike Onyeukwu on Thursday.

According to him “It is instructive to note that his many trips to foreign countries since 2011 have ended up as jamborees and a self-enrichment project, with absolutely nothing to show for it in terms of economic or social benefits to the state.

“Anybody who has made a trip to Turkey and driven through the roads of Istanbul will know that repeated trips to Turkey by Okorocha has become an indictment on owing to festering dilapidation in the intra city roads in Owerri including roads leading to the Imo state Government House.”

He accused the governor of running the state like an extension of his personal fiefdom and dared him to publish a comprehensive and audited account of the state since the beginning of his tenure.

Ihedioha said Gov. Okorocha “who claims to be transparent and accountable has been unable to present an open and functional budget with which he administers the state; and has been unable to publish the state of Imo accounts as repeatedly requested by notable members of the public including Archbishop Anthony Obinna.”
