President Bola Tinubu has said that despite crashing out of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup on Monday, the Super Falcons put up a brilliant performance that did not go unnoticed.
The president said this in a tweet a few hours after the Round of 16 game ended at the Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane in Australia.
The Herald had reported that the Randy Waldrum-tutored Super Falcons lost 4-2 on penalties to the Three Lionesses after a 0-0 draw at regular time and extra time.
Reacting to the loss, the president said, “I must commend the effort by our Super Falcons @NGSuper_Falcons at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“Your brilliant performance did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome.
“You made Nigeria proud on the global stage!”
