Popular comedian, Seyi Law says Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai should jettison any hope of becoming Nigeria’s president.
He said this in a tweet on Sunday while reacting to el-Rufai’s comment on restructuring of the Nigerian federation.
Speaking on Saturday at a lecture to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Centre for Historical Documentation and Research (Arewa House) in Kaduna, the governor restated his belief in restructuring.
He lamented that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has yet to implement the recommendations of a committee he chaired on true federalism, two years after the committee’s report was submitted.
“It is a matter for regret that for some reasons the consequential action by the APC leadership to adopt and implement the report has not happened since it was submitted in January 2018,” el-Rufai said.

Explaining the content of the report, the Kaduna governor noted, “The APC Committee on Federalism recommended that the federation be balanced with more powers and responsibilities devolved to the states. The committee also clarified that the federation is a relationship solely between the states and the Federal Government, and that each state should be allowed to operate the system of local government that suits its circumstances, culture and diversity.”
Reacting, Seyi Law said that el-Rufai was paying lip service to restructuring.
The comedian said it was a ploy by the governor to get Nigerians to back him for president.
El-Rufai has maintained he has no interest in contesting for president.
“This Mr. Man says this every other time without any attempt to implement. Oga, you will not become our president. No think am,” Seyi Law said.
