Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has revealed the reason behind his decision to remain at the Etihad stadium despite rumours linking him with a move away during the summer transfer window.
According to the Ivorian international, coach Manuel Pellegrini was the number one reason he decided to extend his stay with the Citizens.
He said that the Chilean was a father figure who encouraged him during difficult situations and family tragedy.
In a book titled Pellegrini’s Methods, he said: “I’ve stayed because of Manuel.
He always talks to me, giving me some piece of advice. He has been aware of my life off the pitch.
“He has been like a father to me in difficult moments. I have never felt like that with another coach.”
He also attributed the support given him by City fans as another important reason behind his decision to stay.
