Rosseanne Barr might just have gotten her show cancelled but she feels that she was upended by her cast mates who did not support her.
The actress had her hit TV series cancelled by ABC after an alleged racist tweet from her was met with intense backlash.
The comedienne has since apologized for the tweet which she said was a joke gone too far, but it has cost her her show and a couple of other things.
Her offensive tweet was directed at former Obama administration advisor Valerie Jarrett “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” the tweet said.
She has since been severely condemned after this.
One of her co-stars Sara Gilbert tweeted in reaction, “Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show,”
“I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.” she said
Another of her co-stars who plays her onscreen son, Michael Fishman, also wrote a lengthy post in which he also said that Barr’s words were intolerable.
Barr, unhappy with this retorted that she was thrown under the bus by her co-stars
“I created the platform for that inclusivity and you know it.ME. You throw me under the bus. nice!” she tweeted back
Barr later said that she wished the ABC network hadn’t put her co-stars out of work because of her insensitive comments and also noted that she feels the show was cancelled because of Wanda Sykes who announced that she would be leaving her role on the show after Barr’s tweets.
“Her tweet made ABC very nervous and they cancelled the show.” Barr tweeted about Wanda Sykes
