Really, folks are talking about the upcoming BlackBerry PRIV with all intensity. And in all sincerity, a BlackBerry running on an Android Operating System is not an everyday phenomenon – at least not for now.
But as you wait for the roll out of this BlackBerry flagship-to-be, here is one reason you should buy the PRIV: Privacy.
We all know that the Android OS is as secure as open-source software can be – not very. This is most probably attributable to the complexity, massive popularity and rapidly changing nature of the operating system.
To solve this ‘little’ problem, BlackBerry wants to combine the best of Android with its own (BlackBerry is known to be very security conscious) by tweaking the OS extensively to ensure privacy and security capabilities on the PRIV.
The company also has layers of extra security cover for the PRIV with some pre-installed apps, one of which is called “DTEK”.
This app works like an alarm bell in the house. It warns the user when an app is reaching for things on the device you normally would not grant them access to. For now, DTEK is exclusive to the PRIV.
Another one of apps providing extra line of cover on the PRIV is called SecuSuite. This app ensures that voice, text, mobile email, PIM, calendar and contact details are protected against electronic eavesdropping.
Oh, you are thinking of getting the PRIV? Me too!
