You Have Performed Badly In 7 Years – PDP Tells Oshiomhole

2 Min Read

The Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State has berated the governor, Adams Oshiomhole, for squandering scarce resources on fathom “security challenges”.

In a press briefing at an event organised to access the governor’s seven years in office on Monday, the Edo State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih said the governor had performed woefully.

According to him, the realities in Edo State run contrary to the All Progressives Congress’ testimonies of delivering a better life to the Edo people.

He expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the state government was hiding under the guise of tackling security challenges to siphon money.

“You cannot compare what this governor is doing with security funds with any other government anywhere in Nigeria.

“Every month, he takes N500 million to N700 million‎ of tax payers’ money, in his own words, to ‘address urgent security challenges’.

“But you will agree with me that Edo State, like he (governor) used to say, ‘is safe.’

“We do not have Boko Haram here, so we do not really know what he is doing with that amount.‎

“If this money is returned to the coffers of government, I can assure you that the governor will be in a position to fix the roads that are in very bad condition.”

The PDP also accused the governor of abandoning infrastructural development, and claimed that of the N928 billion that had accrued to the state under Oshiomhole, only N268 billion could be accounted for in project execution and payment of workers’ salary.

The party also castigated the governor for accusing former Governor Lucky Igbinedion of mismanagement, saying that his own government had nothing to show as achievement yet.
