The ripples generated by the recent pro-Biafra protests by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East and South South geo-political zones of the country may not leave us anytime soon.
Do you remember Saturday’s message from popular Catholic priest Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka about the protesters and their agitations? If you do not, the cleric said: “Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket, whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue.’’
Peeved by this statement, Deputy Leader of IPOB, Uche Mefor took to Radio Biafra to denounce Mbaka’s statements, describing the man of God as compromised and speaking from both sides of the mouth, Vanguard reported.
Mefor stated that “Biafra is more than money!” while re-affirming the group’s mandate, which is to fight against injustice, oppression and subjugation.
He called on the cleric to denounce the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu by the government of Nigeria and refute the statements credited to him on the pro-Biafra protests if he happened to be misquoted.
