The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has directed all state commissioners of police to deploy Anti-Bomb Squad personnel of their respective commands to inspect all explosives in their armouries to forestall future re-occurence.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Force Spokesperson, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Olabisi Kolawole, on Friday in Abuja.
It stated that Arase also directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Sontoye Wakama, to visit the scene and ensure that those injured received medical attention.
The statement urged citizens to remain calm as the police had directed adequate security surveillance on places where Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) recovered are kept.
While calling on members of the public to go about their normal businesses, it said that Arase has condoled families of the blast victims.
The statement said that the police would ensure the safety of citizens at all times.
