Yhemo Lee, a passionate nightlife enthusiast, recently expressed deep concern and lamentation over the growing hardships faced by citizens due to the escalating cost of fuel in the country. With the removal of subsidy, the pump price of petrol surged drastically from N568 to an alarming N617 per litre, putting immense strain on the already burdened populace.
Taking to his Instagram account, Yhemo Lee shared his astonishment at the noticeable decrease in the number of automobiles on the roads. The rising fuel costs have evidently taken a toll on people’s ability to afford regular commuting, leading to reduced vehicular movement and a visible impact on daily life.
Seeking to understand the gravity of the situation personally, Yhemo Lee conducted some calculations to estimate the monthly expenditure on gasoline. The results were staggering, further highlighting the immense financial strain inflicted on individuals and families alike. As a result, he made a significant decision to relocate to Cotonou, possibly due to the relatively lower fuel prices in the neighboring city, offering some relief from the heavy burden faced back home.
Yhemo Lee’s concerns are not isolated, as other prominent figures, like content creator Ashmusy, have also openly lamented the exorbitant cost of fuel. Ashmusy revealed that she had to spend a jaw-dropping sum of N1.2 million on fuel for her car.
