The possibility of another fuel scarcity hitting the nation is looming with reports that truck owners will suspend services across the country which means that there would be no supply of petroleum products nationwide.
This comes after the expiration of a 7-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government over alleged unpaid bridging claims and reduction of freight rate paid to its members by the Petroleum Equalisation Fund, PEF.
The leaderships of the National Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, and the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD, branch of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG had threatened the government over its unpaid dues.
The 7-day ultimatum has expired and therefore if there are no change in plans, the suspension of services is set to begin in earnest.
