Man City midfielder Yaya Toure is reportedly demanding a new Etihad Stadium contract despite his current £220k a deal still having two years to run.
The Daily Mail claims that the Ivory Coast international feels unappreciated by the Premier League title holders and has demanded a new contract by Saturday.
Toure is one of the game’s biggest earners and such a demand will surely be given short shrift by Man City’s board who may wish to elect to sell the former Barcelona man rather than give in to the 29 year old’s ultimatum.
However, Toure’s agent, Dimitri Seluk, was quick to state that his clients intentions were not financial stating;
‘This is not about money. He wants to leave for many reasons. He does not feel the respect of the staff,’
It’s a pity City pay big money, but do not understand that human relations mean more than anything. Yaya feels the club do not want him.
Yaya is extremely well paid at City and is the first to recognise that.
He is the best box-to-box midfielder in the world. He can also play centre-half, even play centre-forward.
We want to leave the club, because if they really wanted to do good by Yaya they’d have completed the contract a few months ago.”
