Manchester City’s boss Manuel Pellegrini said on Monday that his side’s Ivorian forward Yaya Toure could miss the rest of the season after he sustained a knee injury during the Citizen’s 3-2 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
The international forward left the pitch after 19 minutes and Pellegrini is waiting to discover the full extent of Toure’s injury.
“It’s difficult for Yaya to be in the next game. We will see tomorrow, I don’t know how serious he is injured,” Pellegrini was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Monday.
“I think it will be difficult for him to finish playing this season.”
The 28-year-old has produced a string of strong displays with City this season, scoring 22 goals in 42 appearances.
