In the wake of the arrest of about a dozen Yahoo boys by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a great many reactions have followed.
Most notable was by 360 Nobs CEO, Noble Igwe who urged the EFCC to arrest more Yahoo boys and also disclosed certain businesses which were fronts for money laundering operations.
While many applauded Igwe’s courage in speaking out, others slammed him calling him one of the said Yahoo boys.
Popular online personality, Osi Suave, also seemed to attack Igwe tweeting: “You cant be condemning yahoo boys on Twitter and be moving with them offline.”
To this, popular rapper and YBNL boss, Olamide, showed his support for Osi’s tweet by stating; “Somebody say Amen ! RT ”
The operation carried out by the EFCC also recovered 10 cars and it was reported that a couple of the Yahoo boys made a break for it abandoning their vehicles and seeking escape.
The EFCC wrote about it on their social media saying; “EFCC operatives stormed the popular Club 57 on Awolowo Way, where the suspected “yahoo yahoo boys” were rounded up, following intelligence report.”
Some Nigerians on Twitter have accused Igwe of being a ‘snitch’ and some even stated that Yahoo Yahoo was a way to survive in the face of a broken system.
