If you’d asked anyone about the chances of Manchester City star Leroy Sane of making the world cup, the answer would have been ‘of course!’ (barring injuries) and that is why it was with great shock that the world learnt of Germany’s final world cup squad and realised that Sane was not on it.
Sane was involved in Germany’s game against Austria which the Die Mannschaft lost 2-1 after a goal from Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil was cancelled out.
It also marked Manuel Neuer’s first game in a long while for the Germans.
Sane was a pivotal part of Manchester City’s title-winning side. He is only 22 and it is believed that his time would still come.
Here’s Germany’s full squad
