1 Min Read

The Super Falcons of Nigeria put up a superb performance to clinch a decisive 3-2 victory over the Matildas of Australia on Thursday.

The match played at Lang Park, Brisbane, Australia, was the Super Falcons’ second game at the tournament jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The Nigerian ladies fell behind late into the first half courtesy of a goal by Caitlin Foord, but Uchenna Kanu equalised for the Randy Waldrum-tutored side.

Osinachi Ohale scored a second for the Super Falcons in the 65th minute before Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala added a third seven minutes later.

Alanna Kennedy added the Matildas’ second in the 10th of 11 minutes of added time but it was not enough to salvage a point from the encounter.

Nigeria lead Group B with four points, a goal better than Canada who also have four points after two games.
