World Bank to execute 150m US-dollar projects in Adamawa-Governor

2 Min Read

Gov. Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa has said that the World Bank planned to execute projects worth 150 million US dollars in the state.

Bindow made this known on Wednesday during the opening of the state executive council meeting in Yola.

He said that the projects would be executed between four and six years in nine different sectors in the state.

The governor, who did not mention the sectors, said when completed, the projects would go a long way to address development challenges in the state.

He, therefore, commended the World Bank for supporting the state government.

The governor gave assurance that the state government would pay its counterpart funds as the requirement for accessing some of the grants for development partner projects.

“We feel it necessary to hold discussions with our development partners on how to fine-tune some of these projects to be of immense importance to the targeted communities.

“We are assuring you that we will utilise these windows of opportunities to the fullest in the interest of our state.

“We will also contribute our quota, as required, in accessing some of the grants,’ Bindow said.

Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Umar Bindir, said that the meeting was crucial for the World Bank projects executing agencies to brief the state executives.

Bindir also said that the executing agencies would update the state executive council on the level of project execution and the challenges being encountered.

He listed the executing agencies as Rural Access and Mobility Programme (RAMP2), HIV and AIDS Control Agency, FADAMA II, and Social Development Project.
Others he said were Public Sector Reforms and Nigeria Health Aid Investment among others. (NAN)
