Singer and actress Nwakaego Iheanacho Ogbaro, widely known as Ego, shared insights into her departure from Lagbaja’s Africano band back in 2007. Ego, who served as a back-up singer to the legendary musician, contributed her vocals to iconic tracks such as “Konko Below,” “Nothing for You,” and “Never Far Away.”
Addressing the circumstances surrounding her exit, Ego emphasized that it was a natural progression in her career rather than a fallout with Lagbaja. She urged her fans to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors about any discord between her and the acclaimed musician, stating on Twitter, “We need to stop this ‘When Ego left Lagbaja, everything ‘dabarued’ (lol) narrative…We are both doing very well in our separate endeavors. End of story. Gracias!”
Responding to the speculation of a potential collaboration between her and Lagbaja in the future, Ego clarified that it’s not out of the realm of possibility. She stated, “No, it’s not. There is nothing to resolve. Just a case of when it’s time to move, you meeuuve. Working together again is not an impossibility.“
