“Women making excessive demands are the reason men insult women” — Toke Makinwa

2 Min Read

Renowned Nollywood actress and media personality, Toke Makinwa, has offered valuable advice to women in relationships, urging them to refrain from making extravagant demands from their male partners. In a recent episode of her podcast, “TokeMoments,” she emphasized the importance of avoiding undue pressure on their significant others.

Toke Makinwa stressed that it is fundamentally wrong for women to request things they cannot afford for themselves from their partners. She provided a thought-provoking example, stating, “As a woman, you’re living in Mushin, and you’re putting pressure on a guy to buy you a house in Banana Island. I’m sorry. Make it make sense. Can you buy it? Can you even move yourself out of where you are now?

She continued by encouraging women to be realistic about their expectations and avoid putting undue strain on their relationships. Toke Makinwa pointed out that it’s essential to meet halfway and communicate openly with their partners about their aspirations and dreams.

If he meets you maybe like halfway, and you are saying to him, ‘Bros, I worked hard to get halfway, but I’ve a dream. My dream is not to be here where you met. And I’m not lazy. For me to leave this point to get to that point, you can see the trait of hard work. Are you going to join me to move there, or are you going to be there?’ Period,” she explained.

Toke Makinwa also addressed the negative impact of women making excessive demands from men, suggesting that such behavior is a contributing factor to derogatory comments from men towards women.
