The Nasarawa State government has expressed commitment to addressing the plights of women and children for the overall development of the state.
Hajiya Halima Jabiru, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, stated this on Friday in an interview with newsmen shortly after addressing women in Wamba, Akwanga and Nassarawa Eggon Local Government areas of the state.
The commissioner said that the tour of local government areas was for advocacy and needs assessment of women for the government’s prompt action to improve on their standard of living.
“We are here on an advocacy visit and assessment needs of women with a view to ascertaining their challenges for prompt action.
“The state government is determined to addressing the plights of women and children for the overall development of the country.
“Government has different skills acquisition programmes and other policies that will benefit the women, children and the entire people of the state.
“Government is also focusing on the girl-child education, considering the importance of education to societal development,” he said.
Jabiru also urged the women to give adequate attention to the education of their children, especially that of the girl-child.
She said that educating a girl-child was like educating the whole nation, hence the need for her call.
The commissioner added that the development of any society was depended on the quality of education given to the girl-child.
She further urged the women and the entire people of the state to pray and support the Gov. Abdullahi Sule-led administration to enable it to deliver on its promises.
