Woman Shoots Husband Dead In Front of Watching Kids

2 Min Read

A 31-year-old woman from Louisiana shot her husband dead in front of their kids in a Walmart parking lot on Saturday

The woman, Kayla Giles, was meeting her estranged husband, Thomas Coutee Jr to exchange their children with whom they have joint custody when she shot him once in the chest.

The children were present but were unharmed.

Several attempts were made to save Mr. Coutee’s life, but he died from the gunshot wounds.

The two were married in 2014 and they had three children together. So far there has been no motive put forward for the murder.

According to the BBC, the children were initially taken to a local police headquarters, then transferred into the custody of family members by the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.

According to news outlets, there was someone performing CPR on the husband when police and firefighters arrived at the scene and emergency services tried for another 20 minutes to revive him, but to no avail as he was already dead.

A local news outlet Town talk, noted that the husband, Mr. Coutee had filed a police complaint about his wife being violent in the past, and had filed a motion against joint-custody.

The woman has now been charged with second-degree murder by the Alexandria Police Department, who set her bail at $500,000 (£385,000).
