Woman Sells Baby To Buy Motorcycle In Anambra

A Nigerian woman, 24, identified as Oluchi Emeobi from Nnewi Ichi of Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State has been arrested by men of the Nigerian Police for selling a two moths old baby for the sum of N250,000.

The Nigerian woman according to the Anambra state police commissioner, Umar Garbage was reported to have used the proceeds from the illegal trade to purchase herself a motorcycle.

The Anambra State police command has however confiscated the property along with the woman.

Emeobi, according to the police had carried out the transaction with the help of a 26 year old, Nchedochi Richard, female, who stayed in the same location with her.

Nchedochi Richard, popularly known as First lady is however at large following the arrest of her accomplice,

Speaking during a briefing with journalists, the Police commissioner said Emeobi in order to conceal her act reported to the police that she left her baby in custody of an unidentified woman who kidnapped her baby.

He added: Exhibits recovered from the principal suspect include; Sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (#250,000) cash and One Motorcycle the suspect allegedly bought with part of the money realized from the sale of her baby.”

The Police Commissioner however noted that the matter was still under investigation and efforts have been intensified to catch the fleeing suspect and recover the baby.
