A woman has been arrested in Delta state for dumping her baby at a waste site after quarrelling with her husband.
Mrs Annabel Owhoghovo of Owohelogbo community was said to have dumped the six-month old baby on Friday after telling her husband she was going to visit her mother in another community.
Investigations showed that there was a quarrel that degenerated into physical combat between the aggrieved woman and her husband on Thursday evening after he returned from work and instructed her to help him massage his feet.
The lady was said to have been reluctant to carry out the task and resorted to raining curses and abusive words on her husband, which aggravated an already tense situation.
The situation allegedly continued on Friday morning when some neighbours waded in to settle the quarrel.
It was after the neighbours waded in that she told her husband she was going to Abraka to visit her mother.
It was on her way, investigations revealed, that she dumped her baby at the waste site.
The baby was said to have wailed uncontrollably which drew the attention of the passers-by who took the baby to the nearby police station.
While confirming the incident, Police Public Relations officer of the Delta State Command, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, said the woman had been arrested and would be charged to court on conclusion of investigations.
