A 50-year-old woman, Editha Alimario, who allegedly defrauded her friend of $4,500, was on Friday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos Island.
Alimario, who is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and theft, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Nurudeen Thomas, the accused committed the offences between March 11 and May 30 at Cooper Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
He said that the accused defauded her friend, one Abisola Kola-Daisi, of $4,500, which is equivalent to N1.8million, under the pretext of helping her to get a domestic staff.
He said that the accused refused to render the service and did not return the money given to her for it.
Thomas said that the offences contravened Sections 285, 312 (1)(a) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs F.O. Ikobayo, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case to Dec. 1, for hearing. (NAN)
