A 30-year-old, housewife has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ebutte Metta, for killing her four years old son. The housewife, Mrs Elvis Enegbeta Chris, who resides at 7, Adetola Adelaja, Meiran, Lagos, was alleged to have killed Goodrich Elvis by locking him up in a plastic drum, after hitting him with hot pressing iron.
The accused was alleged to have committed the offence on February 10, 2014, at about 5pm, at her residence. The offence, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Richard Odigie, is punishable under Section 221 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The prosecutor applied to the court for the remand of the accused pending an advice on the matter from the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Subsequently, Chief Magistrate S. O. Solebo, adjourned the matter till March 19 and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison’s custody, pending an advice on the matter from the DPP.
