Music executive Banky W has shared insights into Wizkid’s early career, describing the afrobeat star as a “studio rat” who spent hours hanging around studios, unable to afford recording time.
Banky W, who signed Wizkid to his record label, Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), recalled Wizkid’s dedication and skill. “Wizkid would go to any studio, hang out all day, and wait for engineers and producers to pity him and give him 15-30 minutes to record,” Banky W said.
Wizkid’s perseverance paid off, and he developed his songwriting skills. “He’s now one of the fastest songwriters I’ve encountered,” Banky W added.
