The emotional statement was made during the wake-keep ceremony in honor of his late mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, held on Thursday.
Wizkid’s mother passed away on August 18, 2023, in London, leaving the star heartbroken and navigating through a challenging period of mourning. The artist had kept a low profile, staying away from public appearances during this difficult time.
During the candlelight procession, a prelude to the wake-keep, Wizkid made his first public appearance in almost a month. The event was a poignant moment as the star paid tribute to his mother, reminiscing about the crucial role she played in his life and musical journey.
