Ozil’s magnificent first half performance was a wonder to see, the £ 43m signing set up Giroud to give the Gunners an 11 minute lead and created two sublime chances for Theo Walcott, both of which were squandered by the England International.
Arsenal kept majority of the possession but Sunderland defender Modibo Diakite hit the bar three minutes after Giroud’s goal.
They equalised within four minutes into the second half when half-time substitute Craig Gardner converted a penalty after Adam Johnson was taken down by Laurent Koscielny.

The Blackcats had another goal disallowed when Alitdore was ruled offside three minutes later, Ramsey added the final nail to the coffin six minutes later when he made the most of the link-up between Ozil and Giroud to cement the win.
Sunderland boss Paulo Di Canio was banished from the touchline after making his feelings known to the referee but he could console himself with his team’s second half performance.
