The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has stated the need to verify workers in the state civil service in order to detect all ghost workers on the state’s payroll.
Governor Ahmed made the call yesterday at a stakeholders’ meeting with leaders and supporters of the All Progressives Congress held in Ilorin, the state capital.
He continued that the verification process will help increase the state’s revenue while clearing salary debts to meet other financial obligations of the state. Adding that the verification process will encompass all civil servants, basic level teachers, local government workers and pensioners in the state.
He blamed the present inability of the Local Government Councils and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to cater workers’ salaries regularly on some workers who allegedly receive multiple salaries. Adding that the state government was already in collaboration with banks to employ the use of Biometric Verification Number, BVN, to detect such people committing the heinous act.
