I Will Fight Insecurity, Unemployment and Corruption to a Standstill If Elected – Buhari

4 Min Read

General Mohammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Party has reassured Nigerians that if elected, he will fight the scourge of insecurity, unemployment and corruption to a standstill.

Buhari made this statement during the presidential campaign in Ekiti State. He said “My programme revolves around insecurity, corruption and unemployment. We have a roadmap that will fight these scourges to a standstill, if elected. What you can do to help us is to collect your permanent voter cards and vote during the election. You should not only vote, you must ensure that your votes count.

“We will ensure that schools are built and quality teachers are employed to teach the students because they are the future of this great nation. We are not going to run a presidency that will be detached from the grassroots. We are going to encourage large scale farming to help the youths, who constitute 60 per cent of the population in getting gainful employment.

“Nigeria is now sitting on a keg of gunpowder and we have to ensure that the APC wins the election at the centre and state level.”

His running mate, Prof. Yemi Osibajo (SAN) also added that “The PDP is afraid of defeat. Jonathan and his people are jittery and that was why they wanted the polls to be shifted , but Nigerians must resist this attempt.

“They are afraid of Buhari because they know he will probe the finances of the country and stop this corruption at all cost.

“But with this support we have been getting from Nigerians, no magic can make Jonathan win this election. But if Buhari wins, there would be a new Nigeria and a honest government that would rule the people well.”

Meanwhile, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, in an interview with newsmen shortly after the inaugural meeting of APC Women Presidential Campaign Initiative, in Abuja, on Saturday assured Nigerians that her husband will follow the rule of law if elected.
She said “When my husband is elected as the president of this country, he will rule the country within the rule of law based on the constitution of the country.”

While commenting on the roles of the first lady, she said “If the office of the first lady is constitutionally recognised, he will not tamper with it but if it is not that’s okay. For me, I will perform my duties and role as the wife of the President of Nigeria, traditionally.”

“The wife of the president has some traditional roles, like receiving guests, visiting orphanages, helping the less privileged people, leading the fight for the right of women and malnourished children, infant mortality rate, kidnapping and girl child trafficking and so on.”

Oludolapo Osinbajo, Prof. Osinabajo’s wife also reminded women that this is the time to effect change.

She said “I am happy that I am a mother, a wife and a sister. It is time to do more than we have been doing; encourage other women so that we all can be mothers of Nigeria.

“Mothers heal, comfort, nurture, provide, and sacrifice. We have this virtue in us and by the grace of God; we will be given the opportunity to express who we are as women.

“We are the ones who set the standard in the family; We decide whether our children will be honest or dishonest.

“We have this opportunity to effect change, not only to change the things that are happening in this nation, we have the opportunity to change ourselves.’’
