Wikipedia has hit 5 million pages of English-language articles, the Wikimedia Foundation announced on Monday.
The online encyclopaedia which prides itself on providing “collaborative free knowledge” to the world achieved the milestone in its 15th year, having been established in 2001.
The next most popular language in the Wikipedia family is Swedish with over 2 million articles, followed by German with 1.87 million articles, Dutch with 1.84 million and French with 1.69 million.
The milestone was reached when an Australian identified as Cas Liber created a page about a rare shrub called persoonia terminalis.
