The chairman of the Rivers Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sheriff’s faction, Silva Opusunju has warned that the party will loose the upcoming Rivers rerun election.
Opusunju said Governor Nyesom Wike’s rascality will make the party perform woefully during the polls.
The Rivers PDP factional chairman also said Wike has had series of clashes with security agencies in the state.
He said “What we are trying to explain is in the context of the issue of law enforcement. The governor is the governor of Rivers State. It does not make sense for him to put himself in arms way and that is loudly condemned by everybody.
“You cannot have the chief executive; the head of your house going out in the early hours of the morning or late at night intervening in matters that are not within his ambit.
“Rivers State is for PDP in 2019 but if the rascality of governance in the state by the governor continues like this, we will begin to thing otherwise.
Similarly, Sheriff’s deputy, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh also called on the PDP governors to shun corruption, wickedness, greed and impunity that cost the party in 2015.
“We are not going to allow our party to die. We therefore will not submit our registration certificate to INEC in order to form another party. The politics of yesterday is very different from that of today.
“There is no guarantee that today’s INEC will register you once you give up your certificate. So our task is to rebuild and reposition the party.”
Opusunju was sworn in by the Vice-Chairman of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh.
