Wike’s Ex-Aide Expresses Support For APC, Dakuku

2 Min Read

Opunabo Inko-Tariah, a former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has openly expressed support for Dakuku Peterside of the All Progressives Congress.

The governor’s ex-aide is just one of the many members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to have defected to the opposition or openly identified with it in the recent past.

Recall that a Court of Appeal judgment on December 16, 2015, affirmed the judgment of the Rivers State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal which annulled Wike’s election and ordered a re-run within 90 days.

The governor has however approached the Supreme Court with a prayer that it overturns the Appeal Court’s judgment.

But, Inko-Tariah, who also declared his support for former Governor of the State Rotimi Amachi, said he would help Dakuku win the re-run election in the state if the Supreme Court affirms the Appeal Court’s judgment.

Just few months back, the ex-media aide had been a strong critic of Dakuku, APC and Amaechi, who is now Minister of Transportation.

In a statement in the Rivers state capital, Port Harcourt, he said he had decided to follow the idea of change, which is the mantra of the APC.

“Some persons may ask why I am supporting Peterside. It is simple. There comes a time when time itself needs change. For me this is that time,” he said.
