Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has been spotted playing table tennis in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, amid renewed claims on social media about his health. The minister was seen engaging in a ping pong match at Senator Barry Mpigi’s residence, dismissing rumors of his ill health or death.

Speculations surrounding Wike’s health began after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended Governor Sim Fubara for six months. Some social media posts alleged Wike had collapsed and was flown to France for treatment, claims the minister has vehemently denied.

Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, also addressed the rumors on Facebook, saying, “FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, entered Port Harcourt this evening and went straight to the residence of Senator Barry Mpigi. Na there he go play Table Tennis. Make you wey never do medical tests in the last ten years dey there dey do social media adviser on health to other people.” The minister himself stated he is healthier than those wishing him dead.
