Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has tackled former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his comment on clinching the 2023 presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Herald earlier reported that while responding to a question on how confident he was of winning the party’s ticket, Atiku said, “Have I ever failed to land the ticket?”
But in a Sunday statement signed by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, Governor Wike said Atiku went too far with the comment.
He urged party members to desist from making divisive comments, just as he expressed a desire to ensure PDP returned to power in 2023.
“I didn’t expect him frankly speaking to say that he will always take the ticket of the party. That is going too far and taking the delegates for granted.
“People should watch. There will be shock as far as PDP convention is concerned. People should watch what is going to happen. People like to underrate so many persons and it is not good in politics,” Wike said.
