Simeon Nwakaudu, the Special Assistant on Electronic Media to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has died.
While the cause of death remains a subject of speculation, there are strong indications that the governor’s aide succumbed to cardiac arrest.
However, a state government statement said the governor’s aide died today at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) after a brief illness.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, Governor Wike expressed shock at the loss of Nwakaudu.
He noted that his spokesman’s demise at this particular period was a big blow to the administration.
The governor described his late aide as as a loyal and dedicated professional who contributed immensely to the implementation of The NEW Rivers Vision.

He commiserated with the bereaved family on behalf of his family, the government and good people of Rivers State.
Wike prayed to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Before his demise, Nwakaudu signed many of the governor’s press statements.
