Controversial singer Eedris Abdulkareem has recently claimed that Nobel laureate Wole Soyinkais not criticizing President Bola Tinubu, despite the hardships faced by Nigerians under Tinubu’s administration. Abdulkareem suggests that this silence may be due to Soyinka’s personal relationship with the president.
Wole Soyinka, known for his fierce criticisms of past administrations, has been notably quiet during the current dispensation. Abdulkareem expressed his views during an interview with SRTV, stating, “He [Wole Soyinka] has been very quiet lately. I know he has a good relationship with Tinubu, so we know why.”
Last year, when Professor Wole Soyinka was questioned about his silence regarding the current hardships in the country, he responded that it was “too early” to judge President Tinubu’s administration. Soyinka promised to assess it after a year in office.
Despite almost a month passing since President Tinubu’s administration marked its one year in office, the Nobel laureate has yet to provide his assessment as promised.
