The Department of State Services, has disclosed the reason its operatives invaded the homes of serving supreme court judges on Friday night.
The actions of the DSS, has been criticized and condemned by many persons and groups in Nigeria.
While some called it an act of recklessness, others termed it as an abuse of human rights.
The DSS, however described the raid as a measure taken to expose the corrupt activities of some judges of the supreme Court, Appeal and High court.
He said the action was also a follow up of a special sting operation that was earlier carried out.
Mr Abdullahi Garba, a senior officer in the security agency, has said that the actions of the DSS could be sustained, and defended.
According to him, the operations carried out by the DSS in the homes of the judges were based on the allegations of corruption and other acts of professional misconduct by some judges.
