The Nigerian team at the Olympics holding in Rio, Brazil has been faced with many challenges ranging from inadequate financial support to logistics problems.
The most recent of the display however was visible when the team filed out in their tracksuits during the opening ceremony of the competition as against the usual ceremonial attires from past competitions.
Nigerians have however reacted to what has been described as a trend of shame following the late arrival of the men’s football team at the competition to the mix-up of National anthem during the Dream Team’s first game against Japan in the competition.
Alexander Wolff, a Sports Illustrated senior writer covering Rio Olympics has however revealed the reason behind the Nigerian team’s decision to be in their tracksuits for the ceremony.
