Oba Yisa Olanipekun, Zaki of Arigidi Akoko, Ondo State and the traditional ruler of Prophet TB Joshua’s hometown, has explained why the community wants the popular televangelist’s remains returned home for burial.
TB Joshua died Saturday in Lagos, six days to his 58th birthday.
The traditional ruler said it was the wish of the community people for the late cleric’s remains to be buried in the town.
He stated that many notable clerics were buried in their hometowns, citing Moses Orimolade of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church who was buried in his hometown, Ikare, also in Ondo State.
Oba Olanipekun noted that burying TB Joshua in Arigidi-Akoko “will ensure his legacy remains permanently in Arigidi Akoko”.

The traditional ruler drew attention to the philanthropic deeds of the late prophet in Akoko land, saying it would reverberate for ages.
One of such, he said, was the electrification of many communities in Akoko after years in darkness.
The monarch said that TB Joshua hated seeing anyone in poverty and would go to great lengths to help meet their needs.
Oba Olanipekun disclosed that TB Joshua had proposed to build a school in the town before his sudden death.
