The Senate has disclosed the reason behind its decision to reduce the number of ministerial nominees for screening on Tuesday.
According to spokesman of the Senate, Sen. Dino Melaye, in an interview with the Nigeria Television Authority, the Senate decided to reduce the number of nominees for screening from eight to three because of the yearning of Nigerians.
Sen. Melaye said: “We (the Senate) have monitored the reactions of Nigerians on the issue of these ministerial nominees and we found out that Nigerians believe that we are rushing the process and that it is not as thorough as they would desire.
“Because of that we have agreed that we should reduce to three or four per day so that our interactions and screening exercise will be more thorough and Nigerians will appreciate who is going to be there minister.”
