Senator Olusola Adeyeye representing Osun Central senatorial district on Sunday, June 26, said that despite the forgery charges laid upon the Senate leaders, Senate president Bukola Saraki can never be removed from power.
Senator Adeyey, who stated this in a recent interview with Channels TV, said that if there is no proof that Saraki is involved in the forgery, the Senate president will contest for a re-run election and will win.
He said: “Right now, if politics is a game of number, Saraki has the number.Let nobody deceive himself as he can never be removed. In the current situation, it is impossible because the majority is not enough to remove him.
“By the rules of the Senate, you need two thirds to remove a presiding officer and that number will not come.
“Even if he loses the case in court right now, and they say someone has found the document, my own suspicion is that at the end of the day, a civil servant has will be made the scape goat. That civil servant will go to prison for a year or two. Whoever made him forge the document will give him a lot of money and will just make prison look like going to Mr Biggs.
“If you say that the document has been forged and you cant prove that Saraki was involved in it. He will be a candidate for a re-run election, he will win again and thats the truth.
“That’s why i believe we have to be smart about some of these things,”
