Why Ronaldo May Regret Juventus Move- Former Real Madrid Defender

2 Min Read

While Juventus fans everywhere are celebrating the move of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid to Juventus, someone believes he might regret the move.

A former Real Madrid defender and Italy national, Christian Panucci, stated that while he believes that Ronaldo will be successful in Serie A, leaving Real Madrid was his own worst regret.

Panucci won LaLiga, the Supercopa de Espana, the Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup during his time with Madrid before moving to Inter where he struggled for form.

Panucci believes that the Portuguese’s move, for around  €100 million (£88m), was a good one but also warned that he might end up regretting it.

“When I left Madrid I was convinced,” Panucci told El Partidazo de COPE .

“I wanted to leave Madrid and it was the biggest foolishness of my sports career, and I regret it now.

“Cristiano is going to win because he is too good a player not to do it. It’s normal madness for Cristiano, he’s the best in the world.

“He’s a very smart signing who is going to give other great players a push to come to Italy.

“Being a champion is in his blood.”

Panucci also spoke on Madrid’s chances after the departure of Zinedine Zidane who called it quits in May and was replaced by Julen Lopetegui in June.

He said that things might be a bit difficult for Madrid before they finally adjust

“It could be a difficult season for Madrid,” he said.

“Zidane is leaving, Cristiano is leaving. It’s not easy to substitute them and more after winning three Champions Leagues in a row.”

Real Madrid begin life without Ronaldo and Zidane with a game against Manchester United on the first of August before going on to play Roma on the 8th of August.

They then play local rivals Atletico Madrid in the Uefa super cup on the 15th of August.
